What type of support can I expect?
The course is designed for independent self-study, but has the added support of unlimited access to course FAQs and newsgroup on the website. There is also a helpdesk Vbookhelp@eduflex.com available for any technical support you may require.
I have never taken a self-study course. Does self study really work?
The courses material has been written for the self study environment. It is designed to give you manageable chunks at a time and to keep you motivated. The study material is written in clear, simple language, has clear objectives, is filled with activities and examples, as well as self-assessment exercises.
How long will it take me to complete my training?
This depends on a number of variables, such as how quickly you learn and your present knowledge. However, the course is based on a 3 day full-time classroom based training course, so shouldn't take much longer than that.
I plan to replace my PC. How will that effect my Unix information?
You will need to reinstall your Unix course (on your new computer). Your personalised VirtualBookTM files (such as highlights and notes) are stored on a separate data file (.dat) - this file should be transferred from your existing PC to your new PC. You will find these files stored in the directory selected at time of installation of Unix, (usually on the C drive).
I have lost my VirtualBookTM toolbar. Now all I can see is the help icon. How do I get my toolbar back?
Right-click your mouse and the VirtualBookTM toolbar bar will reappear. You have the facility to 'hide' the bar as some users may find the array of buttons on the control panel distracting when studying.
What upgrade will improve my PC performance the most?
The more RAM you have, the faster and more effective your computer programs will be. VirtualBookTM can be memory intensive once you start adding personal notes, highlights, bookmarks etc.
I have a new email address. How do I change the address I originally entered in VirtualBookTM?
Go to the Help section at the back of your and follow the instructions for changing your address under the section titled "email address".
After changing my screen size settings, my VirtualBookTM became squashed into the corner of my screen. How can I avoid this?
This is usually happens when you have adjusted your screen settings with your VirtualBookTM still open. Before changing your PC settings you should close all open applications (including VirtualBookTM). Once you have adjusted your settings restart your PC and then open VirtualBookTM, which will open to the adjusted size.
